SB-30. Daviess County.
#30
is DAVIESS COUNTY (Owensboro is the county seat; named after Joseph
Hamilton Daviess). Where do you eat & who do you visit? #KY120Game — with Charlotte Flanary and 16 others.
- 4 people like this.
- Will Carle Going to see Jeremy Edge and Clay Ford. Moonlite and the mexican restaurant on the river.
- Sara Luna Osborne In the battle of the BBQ restaurants, I like the Old Hickory BBQ and the Moonlight sides. How's that for middle ground?
- Travis M. Scott Whichever BBQ place has the shortest line. Clay Ford, Jim Glenn, Chad Aull, Luke Alexander.
- Mark Leach My parents' hometown, so visit all the relatives, visit English Park (named for my mom's dad) & eat lunch at Old Hickory & dinner at Moon-Lite
- Charlotte Flanary Trust me on this one. Mirko Pasta. OMG! I would want to visit with Tommy Thompson, Jim Glenn. And Charlie Moore, of course---he doesn't live in Daviess County but he does practice there and I love me some Charlie Moore. So I would want to have lunch with him at Mirko's.
- LeAnn Boling Crosby This is my home town so I have to comment (am a friend of Les Fugate's) and btw I love this game. Locals prefer Old Hickory to Moonlite. But don't forget the Big Dipper for burgers and milkshakes. And I can tell our politics are different so I won't comment on who you should visit;)
- Katie Mueller I want to go visit Chad Aull's wonderful grandparents on their gorgeous farm, and as far as I know, there is no other place to eat in existence IN Owensboro besides Moonlight, is there? Also going to ROMP if it's that time of year with Herbie McKee!
- Chad Aull Mil's Dairy Drive In in Whitesville, Kentucky and Norman Mcdonald's Country Drive-In in Philpot are my personal two favorites. Call Clay Ford, Luke Alexander, and Bill Kuegel.
- Crystal Hicks Chappell We aren't too far from Owensboro. In fact, we are there almost as much as we are at home. My favorite restaurant is Colby's downtown on 3rd street. We are Friday night regulars there. They have the BEST gumbo in all of the world!!! Also, love their prime rib, salmon, and buffalo tenders. You cannot go wrong at Colby's. As for BBQ, definitely Old Hickory! The sides at Moonlite are killer though. Be sure to check out Smother's Park on the River front as well!
- Matt Osborne I'm eating BBQ and cobbler, I'm not picky on where. Going to stop in and say hello to Mike Libs and Tommy Thompson.
- Kathy Jo Stubblefield Lunch at Moonlite; my favorites there are the ham and the vegetable sides - then a visit with Sheryl Beasley Edge and Jeremy Edge.
- Jeff Noble ^^ taking Chad's word for what's out there to eat outside of Owensboro. My Lewis family tree originates in Utica in the south end of the county so I have a few folks to visit there. Agree on Old Hickory. Curious note: this is one of the misspelled county names, named for Major Jo Daveiss, who was one of the first people to recognize the treasonous activity of Vice President Aaron Burr.
- Christian J. Motley Ditto Katie Mueller. If I'm there, I've got to check in with Chad Aull's folks. Philpot is also where I fell in love with that WKY sky.
- Nikki Patterson Moonlite, Old Hickory, The Dipper! I would visit all my family and friends that live there!
- James Higdon The Big Dipper is the be all, end all of cash-only, limited hour burger joints. Always order the "gems" instead of fries. Ask for cherry syrup in your Coke too. Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church has the best barbecue at the BBQ Festival - definitively, hands down. Lure is great for riverfront dining. The bar "Spirits" underneath The Miller House has a second-to-none bourbon selection, and visit Gambrinus Libation Emporium to choose from a world class beer roster. I visit friends and family, but also like to drop in on Judge-Executive Al Mattingly.
- Sara McGown Massey Home!!! Too many people to mention but I'm going to Old Hickory, Big Dipper, and Famous Bistro. Also have to make a stop at Lic's for some Choco-Cremes
