SB-54. Hopkins County.
#54
is HOPKINS COUNTY (named for General Samuel Hopkins; county seat is
Madisonville which is "The Best Town on Earth"). Where do you eat &
who do you visit with? #KY120Game — with Charlotte Flanary and 19 others.
- Phinis Hundley I believe the restaurant is the "Country Cubard" it is behind the Mall just off the Parkway
- Bryan Thomas Matt, it was the Hanson Country Store in downtown Hanson. And Phinis, Country Cupboard does have some ridiculously good fried chicken and desserts. Only chicken place that is even close is Country Inn in Louisville. Can't wait to get back there next week!!
- Travis M. Scott I have never ate in Hopkins County, but I'd make sure to call Will Cox, Stacia Peyton, and Bryan Thomas
- Will Cox Hopkins County is certainly blessed with more than its fair share of political junkies and excellent eateries. My "must see" list would include (but not be limited to): Mayor Jenny Sewell and Magistrate Charlie Beshears at Dawson, Mike Bandy at the funeral home in Nortonville, Jerry Reynolds and Noel Hardwick at White Plains, Mayor Frank Stafford at Morton's Gap, Mayor Mike Seiber at Earlington, and Mickey Demoss at Hanson. In Madisonville, I'd go see Jerry Rhoads, Donnie Carroll, Richard Frymire, and Keith Cartwright.
- Will Cox The "must eat" list would include (but not be limited to): Breakfast --> South Main Cafe (Madisonville) or Dixie Pan (Nortonville) or Good Ole Boys (Hanson) or Big City Market & Coffee House (Madisonville); Lunch --> Golden Glaze, Tommy D'z, Rae's Diner (at the bowling alley), or Country Cupboard ; Supper --> you couldn't go wrong at Crowded House, #9 Steakhouse, DiFabio's Casapella, Dos Copas. And, certainly no trip to Hopkins County would be complete without a late night visit to Ferrell's Snappy Service for cheeseburgers and an early morning visit to Golden Glaze for the best donuts of all time. Here endeth the lesson.
- Will Cox Finally, it should go without saying that if you come and go to any of those eating establishments without inviting me, you're toast.
- Jeff Noble I've never met Richard Frymire. Will, is he the weather prognosticator? Just like in this comment, I'd have to ask Will Cox where to eat. I tend to drive through Hopkins County without stopping, the last time heading east on KY85 past the airport then through miles of coals fields and endless plains.
- Will Cox This one is not the weather prognosticator ... http://kynghistory.ky.gov/.../regi.../def/frymirerichard.htmMajor General Frymire began his military career in 1952 when he entered the Nava... See More
- Stacia Peyton When in Hopkins County visit Pennyrile State Park near Dawson Springs, take a canoe ride down the beautiful Tradewater River and visit Kentucky
