- Margaret McCoy Great county to live in. Very welcoming. Rural as well as country. Best Stop Food Mart on Hwy 60 has the best catfish (original or Cajan) and onion rings.
- Sherman A. Brown My Dad Steve Brown grew up in Flaherty, so I have always considered Meade County very special to me. Growing up, we would stop at a few places along Hwy 60 on the way to visit family or for reunions. I would also call Representative Jeff Greer & Adam Edelen to get their recommendations on lunch spots.
- Travis M. Scott Another county I haven't visited yet: but Representative Jeff Greer and Adam Edelen are my contacts there.
- Steve Brown I used to deliver about 25 evening Louisville Times on a bike in Flaherty And would sometimes get an ice cream sandwich at Brown's grocery or at tavern in 'downtown Flaherty' - I would stop there if those places are still there just to see changes and bring back very old memories. That town is still HOME to me. I would visit aunts and uncles still living and cousins.
- Morgan Miller Visit my dead relatives in Catholic Church Cemetery - does anybody know the name? Family name Buren.
- Representative Jeff Greer Sherman I would be willing to give a grand tour to anyone interested in visiting! Also, our Meade County Chamber of Commerce has lots of helpful information regarding our Great County.
- Jeff Noble Mark and Donna Brown and a few others. My brother used to own 15 acres of good hunting land in Battletown in the 1980s. We went there a lot. Have ancestors I never knew buried in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Big Bend according to my cousin Laura. Ronald Leach lives in Doe Valley. I miss the Doe Run Inn and the old Otter Creek Park camps from the '70s and '80s. Lawrence Street in Brandenburg has the best residential view of the Ohio that I know of. Where to eat?
- Margaret McCoy Best places to eat in B-burg: Miquels Mexican, Little Dave's Steakhouse and Elcamino Mexican. Oct & November brings good turkey dinners at St. John, October 19th, St Magdalen, Payneville November 2nd and st Theresa, Rhodelia October 26th. Dinners begin at noon.
- Morgan Miller Representative Greer, would the Chamber have a list of cemetery's? There is a Catholic Church in front. It's been years since I was there and just can't remember the name.
- Margaret McCoy St George cemetery is the catholic cemetery in brandenburg as well cap Anderson in town. They also have a list at the Meade co library as there are cemeteries in most of the small communities in county. There are also several family cemeteries.
- Morgan Miller Thanks Margaret. I will google the church. I had a great great uncle who was a priest at the church where he is buried. I apologize to everyone getting these posts from me.
- Sandra Arce I've heard Jail House pizza is the place to go. I haven't been there myself. I don't know if Doe Run Inn is open anymore. It used to be a great place to eat and visit. I heard it had closed.
- Margaret McCoy Sandra sorry I forgot about Jailhouse Pizza. It is great,
pizza , also good wings and a great view of one of our wonderful assets the "Ohio River" - Steve Brown One thing I noticed growing up was that a lot of other counties were dry around Meade County - a lot of other counties considered Flaherty boys wild because of stories they heard from Rainbow Tavern and other places in Meade County - truth seemed to be more like a lot of those boys were from dry counties that came over to wet county to 'party'. ...just saying.
